The Boom in Online Learning
Education comes from your schooling?
“I have never let my schooling interfere with my education.” Quote attributed to - Mark Twain
If you think about where you are now and how you got there, can you say that you never let your schooling interfere with your education? Or is your current educated state a direct result of how your schooling dictated where you needed to be?
I was awakened by the attributed Mark Twain quote, to the realization that my innermost dreams of becoming, during my childhood were completely buried in the bottom of my heart through years of schooling. Shock because of this realization stopped me dead in my tracks, literally, stood still. “Is this what I’ve allowed myself to become?”
The biggest question to answer at this point is, why? Why did I allow myself to become what I was? Why didn’t I follow the path I envisioned as a child?
The answer is, of course – fear. Fear from not understanding the value of your education and not their education.

I started thinking about all the times I wanted to do something, to experience something, but held myself back because I was afraid. Afraid of failing, afraid of what other people would think, afraid that I was doing something wrong…just afraid. The more I think about it, the more I realize that I became victim to myself.
How does this relate to my schooling? Well, scaling it back to the actual quote, stopping me dead in my tracks. I realized that I allowed myself to build up fears around what I thought was to be expected, or not expected from my schooling. I allowed myself to only take the direction/instruction of my mentors to be an absolute right or wrong. I robbed myself of having a broader perspective, experiencing more grandly because I had all these fears that restricted which way I should walk.
A beauty from online learning is the ability to receive the learning as instructed, and because of being on your own to figure out how to apply the learning, the impressions of absolute right or wrong, don’t influence a person education.

Do I regret the schooling I have had? Definitely not! This awakening has filled my heart with gratitude and excitement. Something that my schooling has provided my education is that becoming aware or alert, or awakened, is a beautiful happening. That beauty is never defeating, only empowering.
